Mother of the Bride Dresses Australia
There is no dress more important.
There is no dress more important — for you, or for your child — than the one you wear on their wedding day. The mother of the bride or groom holds a special place in the celebration. You want to feel beautiful, age-appropriate, distinct from the bridal party, and entirely yourself.
You want photographs you'll be proud to look back on for the next forty years. Our mother of the bride collection has been carefully curated for exactly this moment — Australian-designed pieces with the flattering cut, considered colour palette and timeless silhouettes that photograph beautifully, move well on the dance floor, and feel as good at 11pm as they did at the ceremony.
"The right mother of the bride dress is the one you'll look back on years from now and still feel proud of. Quietly elegant. Confidently yourself."

The Five Things That Matter Most.
What we've learned from dressing mothers of the bride and groom for over a decade.
Length
Knee-length is acceptable for very casual weddings, but most mothers of the bride choose midi or full-length depending on the formality. Floor-length is the safest choice for evening or black tie weddings.
Sleeves
Three-quarter or full sleeves are the most flattering and the most photographed. Cap sleeves work for daytime weddings. Strapless is rarely the right call for mother of the bride — both for comfort over a long day and for how the photographs age.
Colour
Avoid white, ivory, and very pale pink or blue (which can read as bridal in photographs). Coordinate with the bridal party if you know the palette, but don't match. Jewel tones, deep florals and considered neutrals all photograph beautifully.
Fabric
Chiffon, satin, lace and crepe are the classic mother of the bride fabrics. They photograph well, move beautifully and feel polished. Avoid stretch jersey or anything that creases easily — you'll be sitting, standing for photos, and dancing late.
Silhouette
Choose a cut that flatters you specifically. A-line and fit-and-flare are the most universally flattering. Empire waists work beautifully for taller frames. Wrap dresses suit most figures. Trust the cut, not the trend.
Coordinating With Bridal Party
The mother of the groom traditionally takes the cue from the mother of the bride — but coordination doesn't mean matching. Aim for harmony in photographs without identical dresses. Have an early conversation about palette if possible.
Frequently Asked
Everything You Need to Know
What is the dress code for the mother of the bride?
The dress code matches the wedding's overall code — cocktail, semi-formal, formal or black tie. As mother of the bride, you generally lean slightly more formal than other guests but never more formal than the bride herself.
Should the mother of the bride wear long or short?
Most mothers of the bride choose midi or floor-length. Knee-length is acceptable for casual weddings but uncommon. Floor-length is the safest choice for evening and black tie weddings.
What colours should the mother of the bride avoid?
Avoid white, ivory, very pale pink and very pale blue — anything that could read as bridal in photographs. Also check with the bride about whether the bridal party colours are off-limits to family members.
How do I find a mother of the groom dress that complements but doesn't match the mother of the bride?
Have an early conversation with the bride. She typically prefers the mothers to be in complementary colours without matching — for example, both in jewel tones but one in emerald and one in sapphire. Lengths should be similar; exact matching is not necessary.
How long does delivery take?
Every piece ships within 10-14 business days.
Do you offer alterations?
We don't offer in-house alterations, but we recommend booking with a local seamstress as soon as your dress arrives. Most mother of the bride pieces benefit from minor adjustments — a slight hem, a take-in at the waist — for the perfect fit.
What is your returns policy on special occasion dresses?
Full-price purchases qualify for our free returns for store credit policy — 14 days from delivery, unworn with tags. Sale items are final sale unless faulty.
How does the sizing work?
NG standard sizing 8-18. Most MOB pieces have generous bust and waist construction with internal shaping for support. For exact fit notes, see each product page or book a personal styling session with Natasha.
